At Icy Studios, we take print quality seriously. Every item we produce is printed using industry-leading DTG and DTF technology to ensure accurate color, detail, and durability. However, the final result depends heavily on the quality of the artwork files you upload. This policy outlines best practices to help you achieve the sharpest, most accurate prints possible.

1. Image Resolution

For the best results, upload files at 300 DPI (dots per inch) at the actual print size.
Low-resolution files (below 150 DPI) may appear blurry, pixelated, or soft when printed. Enlarging a small image does not improve quality — it only stretches existing pixels. We are not responsible for poor print outcomes caused by low-resolution uploads.

Recommended file sizes:

  • T-Shirts & Hoodies: 4500 × 5400 px (minimum 300 DPI)

  • Front chest logos: 1000 × 1000 px (minimum 300 DPI)

  • Sleeve prints or small placements: 1200 × 2400 px (minimum 300 DPI)

2. File Format

We recommend submitting artwork in PNG format with a transparent background. Avoid JPEGs if possible, as they can introduce compression artifacts that affect print sharpness. For designs with solid backgrounds, ensure the color matches your garment color if you don’t want a visible border. Files should be in RGB color mode, not CMYK. DTG and DTF printers interpret RGB more accurately for apparel printing.

3. Color Accuracy

Our printers use advanced color management, but screen displays vary by device. Colors may appear slightly different on fabric than on your screen due to monitor calibration, fabric tone, and ink absorption. Avoid extreme neons, metallics, or pure blacks (HEX #000000) — instead, use slightly lighter or neutral tones for more consistent results. If color matching is critical, request a sample print before bulk production.

4. Transparency & Edges

When uploading transparent PNG files, ensure there are no stray pixels or unwanted background elements around the design edges. Avoid semi-transparent or feathered edges — these can produce faded or “halo” effects on darker garments. Use solid, clean edges for the best results.

5. Artwork Positioning

Design placement is based on the artwork dimensions provided. We print directly from your uploaded file, so double-check size and positioning before submitting. Cropping, resizing, or placement errors in your file are considered part of the submitted design. If you need help with artwork alignment, our team can assist before production begins (additional service fee may apply).

6. Responsibility for File Quality

Customers are fully responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and resolution of uploaded artwork. Icy Studios will not reprint or refund orders resulting from poor-quality uploads, incorrect dimensions, or color mismatches caused by the original file. By uploading your design, you acknowledge that the final print quality will depend on the resolution, color, and clarity of your provided file.

7. File Preparation Checklist

Before uploading, confirm the following:
✅ File is 300 DPI at full print size
✅ Background is transparent (for PNGs)
✅ Edges are clean with no unwanted pixels
✅ File is RGB color mode
✅ Text and fine details are thick enough to print clearly

8. Need Help?

If you’re unsure whether your file meets print-ready standards, our design team can review it before production. Email info@icystudios.com with your file attached and subject line “Artwork Review Request” — we’ll assess resolution, edges, and overall print readiness.
